The Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has ascertained the records of three Vietnamese seafarers who are working under contracts on Taiwanese fishing vessel “Tai Yuan 227”, said a Vietnamese FM spokeswoman.
Spokeswoman Nguyen Phuong Nga on May 17 answered reporters’ question on latest information on three Vietnamese seafarers on the Taiwanese fishing vessel hijacked recently by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean.
She said that the ministry has instructed the Vietnamese embassy in Nigeria and Somalia to soon find out and if that is true, the embassy should collaborate with regional countries and international relevant forces to carry out solutions to soon rescue the Vietnamese seafarers on the vessel./.
