Reference exchange rate up on Sept 21

Hanoi (VNA) - The State Bank adjusted the daily reference exchange rate up by 7 VND on September 21, setting the rate at 22,712 VND/USD.

With the current trading band of +/- 3 percent, the ceiling rate applied to commercial banks during the day is 23,393 VND/USD and the floor rate 22,030 VND/USD.

The opening hour rates at commercial banks continued the upward trend.

Vietcombank increased both rates by 20 VND, listing the buying rate at 23,280 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,360 VND/USD.

At BIDV, the buying rate is being listed at 23,280 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,360 VND/USD, both up 15 VND from September 20.

Techcombank added 20 VND to both rates, listing the buying rate at 23,260 VND/USD and the selling rate at 23,370 VND/USD.

The daily reference exchange rate opened this week at 22,690 VND/USD, unchanged from the last day of previous week but was on the rising trend for the next two days. It was adjusted down on Thursday but then up again on the last day of the week to 22,712 VND/USD.

The rates at commercial banks saw decreases on Monday and Wednesday, but rose for all the other days during the week. The buying rate was at around 23,210 VND per USD at the beginning of the week, but ended the week at 23,260-23,280 VND/USD depending on banks. Meanwhile, the selling rate at banks rose from 23,290 VND/USD on Monday to 23,360-23,370 VND/USD on Friday. -VNA
