The Vietnamese and Burundi Presidents agreed to enhance high-level exchanges and strengthen political trust through various channels, as well as to effectively implement bilateral cooperation mechanisms, especially the political consultations between the two foreign ministries.
The relationship between Vietnam and Burundi will continue developing across multiple sectors, especially economy, trade, and investment on the back of strong political determination from leaders of both countries, abundant resources, and potential for collaboration. This partnership will contribute to realising each country's socio-economic development strategies while promoting peace, stability, prosperity, and development in both regions and continents.
Ambassador Huyen noted that President Évariste Ndayishimiye's visit represents a historic milestone in the bilateral relations.
President Ndayishimiye’s Vietnam visit is expected to be a catalyst for unlocking untapped cooperation potential, said Vietnamese Ambassador to Tanzania and Burundi.
The trip from April 3 to 6 will be made at the invitation of State President of Vietnam Luong Cuong and his spouse.
Vietnam and its traditional friends in Africa, including Burundi, share similarities in their struggles for national liberation and development, providing a foundation conducive to further deepening substantive friendship and cooperation, said Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and head of its Commission for External Relations Le Hoai Trung.
Juvenal Sakubu, a reputable entrepreneur in Burundi, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Bujumbura, the Central African nation’s economic capital, largest city and main port.
