Foreign investors have registered around 13.3 billion USD in FDI so far this year, representing 60 percent of the figure in the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

The investment includes 12.1 billion USD of 833 newly-licensed projects and 1.2 billion USD of additional capital for 210 existing projects.

The ministry also reported that close to 10 billion USD of FDI were disbursed in the period, a year-on-year increase of 9.9 percent.

Processing and manufacturing industries topped FDI attraction with registered capital of 4.4 billion USD in the 11-month period, followed by production and water supply and electricity distribution with 2.9 billion USD and real estate, 2.8 billion USD.

Forty-eight cities and provinces licensed new FDI projects in the past 11 months. The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau continued leading the country in FDI attraction with more than 2.3 billion USD, making up 19.4 percent of the country’s 11-month newly-registered capital. It was followed by the northeastern province of Quang Ninh with over 2.1 billion USD and Ho Chi Minh City with more than 1.7 billion USD./.
