A ceremony marking the transfer of remains believed to be those of US servicemen killed during the war in Vietnam , the 113 th of its kind since 1973, took place at the Da Nang International Airport on April 10.

Vietnamese government representatives handed over to US representatives remains of US servicemen, which had either been recovered by a US joint searching group conducted in central and southern region and a group of Vietnamese excavators found in the Central Highlands , or turned in by Vietnamese citizens.

In a recent excavation done by the Vietnamese side, a group of experts recovered a number of remains believed to be those of US servicemen in a place in central Highlands Dak Nong province.

US joint searching groups also discovered the remains in the central province of Quang Tri and southern provinces of Binh Phuoc and Binh Duong.

Besides, forensic scientists from both nations examined the remains found by Vietnamese people in the central province of Quang Tri and southern province of Tra Vinh , determining they were likely to be American MIAs.

The US side government representatives spoke highly of the Vietnamese government’s cooperation and support in joint searching of remains of US servicemen in the past and the future as well.

To date, 926 American MIAs have been identified since 1973./.
