RoK ambassador visits family of killed bride

The Republic of Korea (RoK) Ambassador to Vietnam has conveyed RoK President Lee Myung-bak’s condolences to the family of Thach Thi Hoang Ngoc, who was stabbed to death by her Korean husband.
The Republic of Korea (RoK) Ambassador to Vietnam has conveyed RoK President Lee Myung-bak’s condolences to the family of Thach Thi Hoang Ngoc, who was stabbed to death by her Korean husband.

During his visit to the victim’s family in the Mekong delta city of Can Tho on July 20, Ambassador Park Suk-hwan also conveyed the President’s sympathy over the death of Ngoc and his regret at not offering condolences directly to her family.

The ambassador said the President will request relevant RoK agencies handle the case strictly to prevent similar incidents and the ambassador also handed over the President’s financial assistance to Ngoc’s family.

During the visit, Ambassador Park held a working session with the Can Tho municipal Women’s Union , at which he said he was regretful about the affair and expressed hope that it will not affect the friendship between the two governments and people.

Thach Thi Hoang Ngoc, 20, from Can Tho, was killed by her allegedly mentally ill husband, 47-year-old Jang, in the southern port city of Busan on July 8, just a few days after she arrived in the RoK.

Ngoc’s ashes were brought back to Can Tho by her parents on July 15.

The RoK government plans to work on enhancing citizens’ knowledge of laws and regulations to prevent similar affairs./.
