The Government of the Republic of Korea (RoK) has contributed 3.4 million USD to the 9.4 billion USD project to better the training of occupational safety in Vietnam.
The figure was released at a workshop in Hanoi on October 30 to introduce the project, which began from September 2013 through September 2016 at the Occupational Safety and Health Training Centre (OSHTC) under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA).
Director of MoLISA’s Bureau for Safe Work Ha Tat Thang said that tens of millions of seasonal and rural labourers in Vietnam have yet received occupational safety and health training, attributing the situation to insufficient facilities and instructors as well as impractical training materials and curriculum.
General Director of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Lim Seung Up affirmed the RoK Government will support Vietnam upgrade the OSHTC to a leading centre of its kind in ASEAN.
In the coming time, the centre will be equipped with sufficient facilities, professional instructors and practical curriculum, he added.-VNA
