RoK’s NA Speaker to visit Philippines, Vietnam

Speaker of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s National Assembly Chung Ui-hwa is going to pay official visits to the Philippines and Vietnam in a bid to consolidate his country’s ties with Southeast Asia, the RoK NA Secretariat announced on March 13.
Speaker of the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s National Assembly Chung Ui-hwa is going to pay official visits to the Philippines and Vietnam in a bid to consolidate his country’s ties with Southeast Asia, the RoK NA Secretariat announced on March 13.

The Speaker will arrive in the Philippines on March 15, where he plans to meet with parliament leaders to seek the host Government’s cooperation in preventing violence against RoK citizens there. He intends to discuss measures to raise bilateral trade.

He will arrive in Vietnam on March 17, according to the RoK NA Secretariat’s announcement.

The RoK official is scheduled to hold talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Sinh Hung and meet other Vietnamese senior leaders.

The Speaker visited Indonesia in December 2014, and Myanmar and Laos in January 2015 in an effort to increase exchanges with Southeast Asian law-making bodies.-VNA
