Rural clean water system inaugurated in Can Tho

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on August 31 inaugurated a clean water supply facility for rural residents in Vinh Thanh district.

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on August 31 inaugurated a clean water supply facility for rural residents in Vinh Thanh district.

Covering 10,000 square metres, the system has a capacity of 2,600 cubic metres per day.

Built with an investment capital of 470,000 USD funded by the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Ministry of Environment and other sources worth 24 billion VND (about 1.1 million USD), the facility will benefit over 5,530 households in Thanh An, Thanh Thang and Thanh Loi communes.

Addressing the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Dao Anh Dung described the works as an example for cooperation between Vietnam and the RoK, saying it actively contributes to new-style rural building in the locality. 

He asked the local Rural Environmental Sanitation and Clean Water Centre to manage the facility effectively.-VNA

AIC case in Ca Mau: Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan sentenced to 10 years in prison

The People's Court of Ca Mau province on August 12 sentenced former Chairwoman and General Director of the Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC) Nguyen Thi Thanh Nhan to ten years in prison for "violating bidding regulations, causing serious consequences" in a case involving the inflation of equipment prices for environmental monitoring stations in the former Bac Lieu province (now Ca Mau province).

Australian tourists show growing appetite for Vietnam

Australia has become one of Vietnam’s fastest-growing long-haul tourism markets. Vietnam welcomed 490,880 Australian visitors in 2024, up 26% year on year and around 28% higher than in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic.
