The southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on May 17 held a ceremony to receive trees and stones as gifts from the Naval Force and people in Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago.
The gifts included 21 tropical almond trees and 21 coral stones selected from 21 islands on the archipelago. They symbolise Truong Sa people’s will and affirm Truong Sa as a sacred territorial part of the nation.
The trees were planted in the Le Thanh Duy Park in Ba Ria town.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Tran Minh Sanh affirmed that Ba Ria-Vung Tau is always the firm rear of Truong Sa. The gifts will help close up ties between people in Ba Ria-Vung Tau and Truong Sa archipelago, he added.
On the same day, the central province of Thua Thien-Hue received a national flag presented by the Party Committee, army and people of Truong Sa island district./.
