HCM City (VNA) – The 2016 Saigon Chamber Music Festival is running at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music from August 11-19, offering international instruction to local young artists.

It is hosted by the Norway-based Transposition Programme and HCM City Conservatory of Music, in association with the Goethe-Institut Vietnam.

Founded in 2014, Saigon Chamber Music provides professional training for young Vietnamese musicians by letting them work with internationally acclaimed artists.

This year’s festival was kicked off by the opening concert entitled “On Wings of Song” featuring music from throughout four centuries.

Up to 31 young artists from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi and others from Thailand and Myanmar will play in the Young Virtuosi concert themed “Dance Away Time” as the festival’s grand finale.

Cellist Zoe Martlew from the United Kingdom, violinist Sindri Lederer and pianist Antonia Koster from Germany, and violist Juliet White Smith of the United States will conduct courses at the festival’s summer academy.
