Seminar reviews HIV/AIDS prevention

Three US-funded HIV/AIDS prevention projects, which have been carried out in Nghe An province and Hai Phong city, have helped reduce the spread of the epidemic after three years of implementation.
Three US-funded HIV/AIDS prevention projects, which have been carriedout in Nghe An province and Hai Phong city, have helped reduce thespread of the epidemic after three years of implementation.

The assessment was made at a seminar in Hanoi on Sept. 23 to reviewthe results of the projects funded by the US President’s EmergencyPlan for AIDS Relief in the two above-mentioned localities that havehigh rates of people with HIV.

These projectsincluded prevention of HIV inflection among fishermen and gays,provision of health care for people living with HIV, and control of HIVtransmission among female lovers of HIV-infected men and drug addicts.

Participants at the seminar shared their experiencein caring for HIV-infected people and in preventing the diseasetransmission. They also discussed how to maintain sustainable operationsof HIV/AIDS prevention projects./.
