She hoped that the two countrieswould explore new ways to expand the mutually beneficial cooperation and speedup talks on bilateral free trade agreement.
Wang Yi, for his part, said this yearmarks the 40th anniversary of China's reform and opening-up, adding thatSingapore has made contributions to this process in different stages.
In a meeting with his Singaporeancounterpart Vivian Balakrishnan, Wang spoke highly of the role of Singapore as coordinatorfor China-ASEAN relations over the past three years.
He affirmed that China always supports the central role of ASEAN incollaboration between East Asia and ASEAN.
In reply, Vivian agreed that the two countries should be persistent in the struggleagainst emerging trade unilateralism and protectionism, while maintaining multilateralismas well as free trade and economic integration in the region.
He valued China’s support for the role of Singapore as coordinator for ASEAN-Chinarelations.-VNA
