This is the first group of some 160 officials toreceive further training in 2014 and next years with sponsorship ofSingapore’s Temasek Foundation.
Over the past seven years since2007, Temasek Foundation has sponsored 17 programmes worth about 10million SGD for Vietnam in education, healthcare and publicadministration fields, Gerald Yeo, Programme and Partnerships Directorof Temasek Foundation, told Vietnam News Agency correspondents inSingapore.
He expressed his hope that this training programme forsenior officials will be a “multiplier”, having “core training effect”,saying that “the participants would be able to implement some of whatthey have learnt back into the institutions.”
According toProfessor Liu Hong, Director of Nanyang Centre for PublicAdministration, in two weeks, the participants will interact with seniorprofessors, former ministers and current Parliament members who willspeak on Singapore’s experience in terms of urban development, economicdevelopment, social management, development of talents; leadership; andanti-corruption practices in Singapore.
The Vietnamese seniorofficials will also visit some Government agencies, the Parliament,industrial parks, gardens… so that they could have “first-hand knowledgeabout how Singapore has been successful in terms of social, economic,political development over the past years”, he added.
Accordingto the Professor, the main objectives are to introduce Singaporepractices, especially Singapore’s successful experiences, in publicgovernance and administration, leadership development; to enhancerelationship between Singapore and Vietnam; and to exchange opinionsabout how countries in Asia can develop fast and work closely.-VNA
