Singapore (VNA) – The Select Committee of the Singaporean Parliament on March 14 began a three-day meeting to discuss how to prevent online falsehoods.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Charles Chong said fake news on the internet is being a global serious issue.

He stressed that all countries around the world, including Singapore, are forced to seek solutions to this problem, which is causing negative impacts for countries in different forms.

The committee groups ten members who are officials of the Singapore Government, including Law and Home Affairs Minister K. Shanmugam; Education Minister Ong Ye Kung; Senior Minister of State for Communications and Information and Education Janil Putucheary; and other parliamentarians. -VNA
