The Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Mai The Trung said that President Yam’s visit is an important landmark in Vietnam and Singapore ’s comprehensive friendship, especially for Binh Duong. The province houses the first Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park , which is considered a symbol of the effective cooperation between the two countries.

Trung hopes that Binh Duong will receive more attention from the Singaporean government, its partners and investors, to strengthen economic and cultural ties between the province and Singapore .

The provincial leaders also pledged to continue creating the best possible conditions for Singaporean invested projects to ensure they run smoothly.

President Yam noted more Vietnamese-Singaporean Industrial Parks (VSIPs) have been opened in Hai Phong City , the northern province of Bac Ninh and the central province of Quang Ngai , following the success of VSIP 1 in Binh Duong.

A total of 465 investors have pledged to invest in the four VSIPs, of whom 313 have received licences with total investment of 5.28 billion USD, creating jobs for 110,000 workers and contributing a great deal to the local economy.

President Yam and his delegation also visited VSIP 1, the bonded warehouse owned by the Singaporean company Mapletree and the new city of Binh Duong.-VNA
