Soviet war veterans welcomed in Vietnam

Deputy Minister of Defence Sen. Lieut. Gen. Nguyen Khac Nghien, received a delegation of Russian, Belarusian and Ukrainian war veterans in Hanoi on August 27.

At the reception, Nghien expressed thanks for the three former Soviet countries’ great support, from materials and weapons to human resources, for Vietnam ’s past struggles for national independence.

The Vietnamese Party, State and people always treasure former Soviet war veterans’ contributions to the Southeast Asian country, he said.

The Deputy Minister expressed his belief that the visit would yield good results, helping strengthen mutual understanding as well as boost the traditional friendship and cooperation between the armies of Vietnam and the three countries.

For their part, the Soviet war veterans said they were pleased to return to Vietnam , where they had worked and fought.

They expressed a wish that the traditional relations between the armies of Vietnam and their countries will be continuously consolidated and developed./.
