Trade experts have suggested Vietnamese garment enterprises come up with business strategies to gain a foothold in Canada as it is now one of the largest garments and textiles importers in the world.

Exporters should focus on making good quality products with different designs and provide their clients with sufficient information on prices, images of products and technical specifications, experts said.
They should take part in trade fairs in Canada and its neighbouring areas, considering this a good way to enter the market, said experts.

According to the Industry and Trade Ministry, though having 2,000 garment producers, prices for made-in-Canada garment products are much higher than imported ones because the northern American country has to import input materials that leads to higher production costs.

Canada is now a large garment importer, with products majorly imported from the US , China , Mexico , India , Bangladesh , Taiwan , the Republic of Korea , Pakistan and Turkey .

The country’s demand for women’s clothes accounts for 50 percent of the total./.
