Hanoi (VNA) –
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) and the Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA) introduced a diverse range of activities from the tourism sector on the occasion of the upcoming DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam at a press conference in Hanoi on February 25.

Deputy head of the VNAT Ha Van Sieu said that the selection of Hanoi as host of the second DPRK-USA summit, taking place from February 27-28, means a greater spotlight on Vietnam and the capital city. It has been frequently mentioned in international media as a special, safe and friendly destination capable of facilitating such a major and important event.

This has created excellent opportunities for the tourism sector to lure more foreign tourists to Vietnam, he added.

To prepare the best conditions for the summit, the ministry has urged culture and tourism facilities in Hanoi to ensure environmental sanitation, as well as host and guide international reporters during the two-day event.

The VNAT asked Hanoi and other localities to increase their quality inspections of tourism services to ensure the best for the high-level delegations, international reporters, and tourists before, during and after the summit.

The agency has also worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to proactively provide information about Vietnam’s tourism through videos, the Vietnam Tour Guide e-publication, the tourism website www.vietnam.travel, as well as the ministry’s international press registration site www.dprk-usasummit2019.mofa.gov.vn.

In particular, the VNAT has created a space to display photos of popular destinations, including heritage sites, across Vietnam.

The VNAT, in coordination with the VTA, have hung large billboards introducing free tours for reporters which include the Hanoi city tour and trips to Café Hanoi, Bat Trang ceramics village, and UNESCO world heritage site Ha Long Bay arranged by the prestigious travel companies Hanoitourist and Saigontourist.

The over 3,000 reporters from global media outlets arriving in Vietnam to cover the upcoming summit will be able to discover special tourism products and services both in Hanoi and around Vietnam.

After the summit, the VNAT plans to host a wide range of activities to promote Vietnam’s tourism in the US, Russia, the Republic of Korea, and Japan. –VNA
