Suspension bridge project to aid 28 mountainous localities

The Ministry of Transport is striving to complete the construction of 186 suspension bridges in 28 mountainous provinces in the northern, central and Central Highlands regions as early as in the second quarter of 2015.

As part of the project, four bridges are beingconstructed in the northern provinces of Yen Bai, Bac Can and Ha Namand central Nghe An province.

Outlined by the ministry, thescheme aims to help improve living conditions for inhabitants inmountainous and remote areas of the country and mitigate the risks oftraffic accidents, especially during the flood season.

The planis also to deal with the fact that 40 percent of all the suspensionbridges across the country are in need of urgent repairs orreconstruction, according to the ministry.

Figures from theministry indicate that there are about 1,950 suspension bridges inVietnam. About 810 operational bridges - roughly 40 percent - have shownsigns of erosion and rust. Up to 94 percent of them are located onroads connecting villages and communes.-VNA

In the new context, Politburo Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW, dated August 2, 2026, continues to place the preservation of the Vietnamese language within the strategic vision of mobilising resources from the Vietnamese community abroad and promoting Vietnamese cultural values around the world.

Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.

Under a draft decree replacing Decree 63, authorities will have to proactively pull information from databases and records for informational or technical procedures. Applicants would no longer be required to resubmit documents, and certification or information requests could not be turned into discretionary licensing through an “ask – give” mechanism.
