A Swiss parliament senior official has said his country pins much hope on the upcoming visit by State President Nguyen Minh Triet, scheduled for May 2010, for further boosting the relationship between the two countries and the two legislative bodies.

Handsruedi Wandfluh from the Committee for Economic Affairs and Taxation of the Swiss Parliament’s National Council stated this during his working session with Vu Viet Ngoan, Vice Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly’s Economic Committee in Geneva on November 23.

The law makers shared their countries’ experiences in coping with the economic recession. The Swiss side applauded Vietnam ’s economic policies and solutions which have helped curb economic decline.

They agreed that the two countries have potentials to boost economic cooperation, particularly in trade and investment.

The Swiss official said his country regards Vietnam , together with Indonesia , as the bridges for it to promote economic ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Earlier, Ngoan and his entourage studied Switzerland ’s financial system, its economic stimulus packages and solutions and experiences in helping its economy escape from crisis at a meeting with Nicolas Descoueudres from the Swiss Foreign Ministry.

Arriving in Switzerland on November 22, the Vietnamese delegation is scheduled to have working sessions with executives from the Credit Suisse Bank and the State Bank of Switzerland on November 24./.
