Jakarta (VNA)– The Swiss government has provided a grant of 75 million USD for Indonesia tosupport the country’s economic development, Indonesia’s Antara news agencyreported on July 19.
The Swiss governmentwants to maintain its technical support for Indonesia, Antara quoted SwissEconomy, Education and Research Minister Johann Schneider Ammann as sayingduring a meeting with Indonesian President Joko Widodo on July 18.
Minister JohannSchneider Ammann, who is also a member of the Swiss Federal Council, made a twoday-visit to Jakarta to resume negotiations with Indonesia on the ComprehensiveEconomic Partnership Agreement and the European Free Trade Agreement (EFTA),and to strengthen cooperation in vocational training and education.
Switzerlandhas supported 40 projects in Indonesia to help maintain economic stability, increaseaccess to financial services, promote trade and develop infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Indonesian Minister for NationalDevelopment Planning Bambang Brodjonegoro said the country’s government highlyappreciates support from the Swiss Government for Indonesia.
He hoped that the cooperation between the twocountries would help create new jobs, reduce poverty and improve access tofinancial service in the country.-VNA
