A pair of auxiliary border gates, Tan Hung at Tan Hung district of Vietnam’s southern Long An province and Svay A Ngong at Kampong Trabaek district of Cambodia’s Prey Veng province, was inaugurated on July 2.
At the inaugural ceremony, Nguyen Thanh Nguyen, Vice Chairman of the Long An province’s People Committee, said the border gates will contribute importantly to consolidating and developing the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia in general and Long An and Prey Veng in particular.
In the time to come, the two provinces will work together to boost economic development at their shared border areas, with a focus on building infrastructure to improve both material and spiritual lives of residents there.
A power line connecting Tan Hung district to Kampong Trabaek will be set up to serve that work.
Long An shares a 132 km border with Cambodia’s Prey Veng and Svay Rieng provinces, including a river border crossing of 13 kilometres between the districts of Tan Hung and Kampong Trabaek.
With the newly inaugurated, Long An now has one international, one national and three auxiliary border gates.-VNA
