HCM City (VNS/VNA) - Shopping and dining service counters at Tan Son NhatAirport’s international terminal are getting ready to welcome foreign visitorsafter a two-year pandemic inflicted hiatus.

With Vietnamfully resuming international tourism on March 15, many non-aviation businessesat the airport are preparing to reopen services.

Many duty freeshops at the airport, for instance, are rearranging their wares to welcometourists

The number ofinternational tourists visiting Vietnam has gone up by over 71 percent afterthe partial reopening of the country’s borders with several mandatory measuresdesigned to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Under newrules, with negative COVID-19 results, fully vaccinated foreign tourists mayfreely travel in Vietnam after just one day of isolation following entry.

In the first24 hours after arrival, tourists are required to remain at their accommodationsand have a COVID-19 test. It is also recommended that they stay put for 72hours, but if they want to leave after one day, they will need to have anegative COVID-19 test result every day for three days before they setout 

Nguyen Thi AnhHoa, Director of the city’s Department of Tourism, said that severalpreparatory steps have been taken to implement specific programmes in line withthe Government’s directions.

Currently, thecity has 34 hotels with 6,800 rooms meeting requirements of the pilot plan onwelcoming international tourists this year. There are five local businesses –Saigontourist, Vinasun Travel, Hai Van Cat Travel, TSTourist and Blue SkyTravel – allowed to offer tour packages to foreign visitors./.

Da Nang ready to welcome over 456,000 visitors during Tet holiday
