Thevisit, from April 19-21, was also designed for General WorapongSanganetra to introduce his new position to Vietnamese military leaders,a practice normally observed in ASEAN.
At their follow-uptalks, Ty expressed his hopes that in the new post General WorapongSanganetra would have fresh, practical, and efficient contributions tothe two countries’ defence cooperation.
Bilateral defenceaffiliation has grown extensively, especially after the signing of amemorandum of understanding in 2012, which facilitated visit exchange,personnel training, communication, joint patrols at sea, and search andrescue activities, Ty said.
The two officersdiscussed national, regional, and global situations as well as issuesthat could affect security and defence of each country and the wholeASEAN.
They also worked on orientations and measures to bolster army cooperation efficiency.-VNA
