Thai Nguyen (VNA) – The Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association in Thai Nguyen province on April 12 held a get-together for Laostudents in the northern locality on the occasion of the traditional New Year(Bunpimay) festival of Laos.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee NguyenThanh Binh said that the province always pays attention to education andtraining activities for Lao students, many of whom, after being graduated, have returned home and madegreat contributions to development of Laos as well as that of the two countries.

At the get-together, many meaningful activities during theNew Year festival were held such as praying for good luck, tying a thread onthe wrist, and splashing water, creating a joyful and warm atmosphere for participatingstudents.

This is a practical activity to strengthen and affirm thetraditional friendship and special solidarity between the two nations’ people.

At present, there are nearly 1,400 Lao students studying in11 educational institutions in Thai Nguyen./.
