Bangkok (VNA) - Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha chaired an international press conference in Bangkok on June 23 to make known the outcomes of the 34th ASEAN Summit.
He said ASEAN leaders adopted several important documents to build a region of peace and stability so as to bring benefits to people.
Participants highlighted the importance of enhancing regional economic power and agreed to conclude negotiations on Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership later this year, thus helping the bloc control changes and instability, especially coping with the impact from the trade tension between ASEAN’s important trade partners.
They vowed to focus on marine debris, factors harming health, living environment of the people as well as marine resources and species.
The summit adopted the Bangkok Declaration on Combating Marine Debris.
The PM announced that leaders support ASEAN’s initiative to host World Cup 2034, and the 35th ASEAN Summit and related meetings will be held this November.-VNA
