Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajivaaffirmed on March 13 that he will dissolve the House of Representativesin the first week of May, paving the way for an election campaign in thecountry.
Under the Thai law, an election must be held between 45 and 60 days after the dissolution.
In the weekly broadcast, the PM called on parties to prepare for theelections and political sides to cease turmoil out of the parliamentwhen the House of Representatives was dissolved.
The same day, theElection Commission (EC) said the general elections will be held onJune 26 or July 3 if the PM’s plan of dissolving the lower house isunchanged.
EC will hold a meeting on March 15 to discuss therevised election draft law in the spirit of the revised Constitution forearly submission to the National Assembly./.
