A Thai national was caught carrying 3.97 kg of cocaine worth nearly 25 billion VND (1.17 million USD) when landing at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat international airport on July 29, according to the airport’s customs office.
Pantimoong Narisara, 25, entered Vietnam from Qatar with the cocaine hidden in her consigned luggage.
She admitted that she had successfully transported the drug through several countries before arriving in Vietnam.
Since the beginning of this year, the customs office at Tan Son Nhat airport has discovered three cases of drug smuggling, detaining three traffickers and confiscating 9kg of cocaine and 2kg of drug precursors, worth about 58 billion VND in total.-VNA
