Thailand: Bomb found in Bangkok downtown

Thailand’s media reported that the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) force on May 30 found a pipe bomb near the exit No 1 of the metro station near the Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok.

Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand’s media reported that the EOD (ExplosiveOrdnance Disposal) force on May 30 found a pipe bomb near the exit No 1 of the metrostation near the Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok.

A taxi driver informed the police of Huai Khwang district about asuspicious object inside a black nylon bag near the metro station.

EOD experts confirmed it is a self-made explosive device. Photos carriedby the media show the bomb had been deactivated.

Investigation is under way. It is not clear whether the case is relatedto the recent three bombings in Bangkok.

The blast at Phra Mongkutklao military hospital on May 22 injured morethan 20 persons, just 8 days after an explosion outside the Bangkok National Theatrewhich injured two. On April 5, a bombing outside the government lottery officealso injured two.-VNA
