Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand’s media reported that the EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) force on May 30 found a pipe bomb near the exit No 1 of the metro station near the Thailand Cultural Centre in Bangkok.

A taxi driver informed the police of Huai Khwang district about a suspicious object inside a black nylon bag near the metro station.

EOD experts confirmed it is a self-made explosive device. Photos carried by the media show the bomb had been deactivated.

Investigation is under way. It is not clear whether the case is related to the recent three bombings in Bangkok.

The blast at Phra Mongkutklao military hospital on May 22 injured more than 20 persons, just 8 days after an explosion outside the Bangkok National Theatre which injured two. On April 5, a bombing outside the government lottery office also injured two.-VNA
