Thailand, Cambodia jointly hold Vesak week

Thailand's Sa Kaeo province and Cambodia's BanteayMeanchey province will co-host Visakha Bucha Week to mark the religious occasion and to strengthen Thai-Cambodian relations.

Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - Thailand's Sa Kaeo province and Cambodia's Banteay Meancheyprovince will co-host Visakha Bucha Week to mark the religious occasion and tostrengthen Thai-Cambodian relations. 

Accordingto Permanent Secretary for the Provincial Office ofSakaeo Natthachai Nampoonsuksan, a meeting was held between Thai and Cambodianrepresentatives at the provincial city hall to prepare for the week-longreligious event to celebrate Vesak Day on May 10. 

The eventwill take place at Nong Kra Poh Temple and is aimed at commemorating LordBuddha’s cremation, which falls on May 18th this year. Visitors will have achance to learn about Lord Buddha and his teachings. 

Culturalshows, religious exhibitions and an almsgiving ceremony for Thai and Cambodianmonks will be held throughout the religious week.-VNA
