Thailand is hopeful that more Japanese travellers to land in thecountry during the upcoming Songkran holiday while more Thais will go onoverseas holidays because of the stronger baht.
Thailand-Japan Tourism Promotion Association (TJTPA) President AnekSrichiwachart revealed on March 25 that the number of Thai holidaymakersto Japan would increase 20 percent year-on-year in April, with allflights already fully booked.
Anek stated that theincrease was brought on by the appreciation of the baht and the weakerJapanese yen, which have enabled more local travellers to fly out duringthe Thai New Year festival.
In any case,TJTPA predicts that there will be between 20,000 and 30,000 Japanesetourists in the country throughout the Songkran holiday and that eachtraveller will choose a holiday package priced 50,000-60,000 THB andstay 5 days and 4 nights here.-VNA
