Bangkok (VNA) - The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Thai Airways International are jointly promoting 20 domestic air routes to 10 secondary provinces during this year's fourth quarter, said TAT Governor Yutthasak Suphasorn.

That is part of the plan which calls for state firms such as Krungthai Bank, Airports of Thailand and TAT to help with the launch of a tourism campaign in a bid to raise the incomes of the national flag carriers, he said.

Under the theme of "Amazing Thailand Go Local", the 20 air routes are being promoted where THAI and THAI Smile airlines currently shuttle their passengers between Bangkok and the 10 provinces, he added.

Those provinces, mostly being secondary destinations for tourists, include Chiang Rai in the North, Udorn Thani and Ubon Ratchathani in the Northeast and Yala in the South.

THAI and THAI Smile airlines will run promotional packages from now until the end of December.

Meanwhile, Yutthasak passengers to a total of 55 secondary provinces, including the 10 currently promoted destinations, will enjoy up to 15,000 THB (457 USD) in tax deduction by the year’s end.-VNA
