Thailand sets date for new PM vote

The Thai National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will vote for a new prime minister on August 21 or 22 after concluding discussions on budget for the 2015 fiscal year.
The Thai National Legislative Assembly (NLA) will vote for a newprime minister on August 21 or 22 after concluding discussions on budgetfor the 2015 fiscal year.

The NLA has only one month toscrutinise the fiscal 2015 budget bill before the fiscal year begins,NLA Deputy Chairman Surachai Liengboonlertchai said, adding that it willhold the first reading of the bill on August 15.

Surachai saidhe personally supports General Prayuth Chan-ocha, chief of the NationalCouncil for Peace and Order, for the position. But it is up to the NLAto decide, he said.

According to the Thai interim Constitution,NLA members will vote for a new prime minister and the Cabinet togovern the caretaker government until a general election scheduled forlate next year.-VNA
