Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Chulalongkorn Hospital of Thailand has hailed the resounding success of medicine after the country’s first test-tube baby, who is now a grown man, became a father.

At a press conference on December 18, medical staff at Chulalongkorn Hospital said that the technique of assisted reproduction made possible the birth of Thailand’s first test-tube baby, Pavornvit Srisahaburi, in 1987.

On December 16, Pavornvit’s wife gave birth to a child. The achievement proves that the In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) can treat infertility and create test-tube babies who can grow up to live a normal life.

Medical staff added that Chulalongkorn Hospital is now developing egg freezing services for cancer patients who want to have a child, paving the way for the practice of ovarian tissue culture that can treat infertility.-NNT/VNA
