Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and the new cabinet were sworn in on Aug. 10 in an audience with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in accordance with Thailand ’s constitutional procedures.

At the ceremony, Yingluck Shinawatra committed to solve divergence and national wedge after many years of political instability and economic reform, and narrow the gap in incomes between northern rural areas and urban centres of the country.

Earlier, on August 9, King Bhumibol Adulyadej ratified the 35-member cabinet, headed by Yingluck Shinawatra.

Yingluck, 44, became the first female Prime Minister in Thailand after the Puea Thai Party won great victory in the general election in early July./.
