Hanoi (VNA) – The Thoi Dai (Vietnam Times) newspaper of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) on June 14 launched its Lao and Khmer language electronic versions.
The Lao version can be read at huunghivietlao.thoidai.com.vn, and the Khmer version at huunghivietnamcampuchia.thoidai.com.vn.
Addressing the launch ceremony, VUFO Vice President Bui Khac Son said the two new electronic versions will be effective tools to connect Vietnam and Lao and Cambodian friends.
The Lao and Khmer versions will cover external and friendship activities of officials, localities, agencies and socio-political organisations of Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The newspaper also reports on the situation across the fields in the countries, while serving as a forum to promote people’s diplomacy, thus contributing to the friendship among the countries and peace and friendship in the region.
Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Thoi Dai newspaper Luong Chi Cong highlighted that Vietnam has always given the highest priority to the traditional friendship with Laos and Cambodia in the past struggle for national liberation and the current national construction and defence.
Amidst complicated changes in regional and global situation, quality and friendly communication products are needed to cement the ties among countries, especially with those sharing the border with Vietnam, he said, adding that with the launch of the Lao and Khmer version, the newspaper also wants to help preserve and develop the close bonds between Vietnam and the neighbouring countries.-VNA
