The Drug-related Crime Investigation Unit (PC47) of the police department in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai has uncovered a ring of three drug traffickers, seizing 42 packs (14.7 kg) of heroin, according to Deputy Director of the provincial police Giang Ly Pao.
Vang Thi Soa, 26, residing in northwestern Dien Bien province, Lau A Cu, 30, from southern Binh Phuoc province and VeuPia, 20, living in Laos’ Bolikhamxay province, were caught trafficking the drugs on National Road 70 in a pickup truck with a Lao registration number.
The local police agency also confiscated two vehicles, five mobile phones and a number of related documents and assets.
Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Huy from the agency said this is the largest-ever drug haul in the locality with foreign involvement.
The cause is under further investigation.-VNA
