Three drug traffickers caught in Son La

Three people were arrested recently in the northern province of Son La for smuggling 20 bricks of heroin and more than 2,360 synthetic drug pills, police in the province’s Moc Chau district announced on September 28.

 Son La (VNA) - Three people were arrestedrecently in the northern province of Son La for smuggling 20 bricks of heroin andmore than 2,360 synthetic drug pills, police in the province’s Moc Chaudistrict announced on September 28.

Police in Moc Chau and Van Ho districts and Long Sapand Chien Son border posts apprehended Trang A Song and Trang A Tong onSeptember 26, who both live in Moc Chau’s Long Sap commune.

The two men admitted they had trafficked the drugs from borderareas to Moc Chau.

A day later, police captured Trang Lao Sai, anotherman in the ring who had previously fled on a motorcycle, leaving behind abackpack with evidence inside.

The case is being further investigated./.

Xuyen Viet Oil case: Appellate verdict announced, with six receiving reduced sentences

Specifically, the trial panel sentenced the mastermind of the case, Mai Thi Hong Hanh, ex-Director and Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Xuyen Viet Oil, to 11 years in prison for the crime of “giving bribes” and 17 years for “violating regulations on the management and use of State assets, causing loss and wastefulness.” The combined sentence is 28 years in prison, 2 years less than the first-instance verdict.

Khanh Hoa tightens control of fishing vessels at sea ports
