Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Chief of the General Staff ofthe Vietnam People’s Army Lt. Gen. Pham Hong Huong welcomed a delegation of theDirectorate of Signals of Myanmar army in Hanoi on May 30.

Lt. Gen. Pham Hong Huong underlined the importance of communicationto the armed forces’ operation and affirmed that Vietnam intends to promote internationalcooperation in the field.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff appreciated thecollaboration between the armies of Vietnam and Myanmar in the past time on thebasis of the agreement on defence cooperation signed in 2011. The two sideshave exchanged delegations, supported each other at multi-lateral forums andhelped each other in language training.

Head of the Myanmar delegation, Director of the Directorateof Signals Maj. Gen. Thaw Lwin expressed his hope that the armies of the twocountries will strengthen their partnership, particularly in the field ofmilitary communication.-VNA

To further advance bilateral ties in the new era, the two leaders agreed to continue making full use of existing cooperation mechanisms across all channels, including meetings between the two Parties, promote exchanges between young leaders and youth from both countries, and expand cooperation between their legislative, executive and judicial bodies, people’s organisations and localities.

This is PM Hung’s first official visit to Cambodia. It holds particular significance, demonstrating the high priority that the Party, State and Government of Vietnam attach to relations with Cambodia and contributing to further deepening the bilateral ties of “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation and long-term sustainability”.
