The Dutch government has decided to present the capital city of Hanoi with 30,000 Tulip flowers for decorations during its millennium anniversary.

Newly-accredited Dutch ambassador to Vietnam Jozep Willem Scheffes offered the gift to Hanoi city People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen The Thao as he was received by the chairman on September 15.

The ambassador spoke highly of the achievements of Vietnam and Hanoi city and expressed his hope that the Netherlands and Vietnam would extend their economic and trade cooperation, focusing on agricultural processing industry.

For his part, Chairman Nguyen The Thao thanked the Dutch government for the present.

He noted that the two countries’ relationship has been improved in every field over the past years and asked the Netherlands to assist Hanoi in making a master plan for its future construction as well as control scheme.

“Hanoi city will create favourable conditions for Dutch businesses to invest in the city,” the chairman said./.
