Hanoi (VNA) - Coach Thai Thanh Tung has agreed to train the national women’s volleyball team again.

Tung stepped down last year because he said the team needed a qualified foreign expert to take them to the next level. However, the Vietnam Federation of Volleyball hasn’t found a suitable expert for the team, so the federation invited him to lead the team once again.

Last year, Coach Tung, who was born in the northern province of Thai Binh, helped the squad rank fifth in the Asian tournament and earn a silver medal in the 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore.

Vietnam will participate in the upcoming VTV Cup 2016 and Asian Cup Volleyball Championship 2016.

In other news, Japanese Shuto Koichi will coach the women’s junior volleyball team starting May 22 to prepare for the Southeast Asian Junior Volleyball Tournament July 15-21 and the Asian U19 Women’s Volleyball Championships July 23-31.-VNA
