Tuyen Quang, (VNA) – The northeastern province of Tuyen Quang boast great potential for tourism development, particularly historical and cultural tourism exploiting the many historical and revolutionary relics in the province.
In recent years, the provincial authorities have paid attention to creating favourable conditions for tourism development, with the goal of turning it into a spearhead industry, helping stimulating other economic sectors.
Great potential for tourism
Tuyen Quang is home to the Tan Trao and Kim Binh special national relic sites which are suitable for historical and cultural tours.
The Na Hang eco-tourism site, with large areas of primitive forests and more than 8,000 ha of lake along with various scenic spots and caves, is an ideal place for eco-tourism and adventurous tours.
The My Lam mineral hot spring, boasting the best hot spring with water of 60 degree C in the north with water of 60 degree C, calls for resort development.
The province is the home of many ethnic minority groups, with each group having their own unique culture, which makes the locality a museum of culture, architecture, arts, and beliefs.
Tuyen Quang city has 13 temples dedicated to the Mother Goddess, where the worship of the Mother Goddesses of Three Realms is practiced. The ancient Vietnamese tradition of Worshipping Mother Goddesses has been recognised as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
The Long Tong festival and Then singing ritual of the Tay ethnics, the Cap sac festival and Pao Dung singing of the Dao, Soong Co singing of the San Diu, and Sinh Ca singing of the Cao Lan in Tuyen Quang have been listed as national intangible cultural heritages.
Creating impetus for tourism
The Prime Minister has approved a master plan for development of the Tan Trao national tourism site to 2030. The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism has recognised the Tan Trao special national historical relic, the special national relic of the second National Party Congress (Chiem Hoa district), and the Na Hang-Lam Binh special national landscape site.
Tuyen Quang is working with nearby Bac Can province to build a dossier for the Ba Be-Na Hang nature reserve seeking UNESCO recognition as a world natural heritage site.
The province has completed a master plan for the conservation and restoration of the historical relic site of the second National Party Congress, while starting work on a project developing spiritual tourism and another on building a stopover on Deo Ga pass in combination with community-based tourism at Phuc Thinh commune (Chiem Hoa district).
Development plans have been completed for several promising tourism destinations, such as the Tinh Huc entertainment and resort complex, the Bach Thao Ngan park, spiritual and historical sites in Tuyen Quang city, My Lam mineral hot spring site, and the community tourism site in Lam Binh district.
The My Lam site has already attracted several big investors, who are building villas, hot spring therapy facilities, eco-tourism villages and even a golf course. The site is expected to become a luxurious tourism complex, contributing to promoting sustainable development of Tuyen Quang tourism.
Besides, community tourism sites in the Na Hang nature reserve (Lam Binh district) are emerging as popular destinations for tourists. There are four recognised such sites, which are Na Tong and Na Dong villages in Thuong Lam commune, Na Muong village in Khuon Ha commune and Nam Dip village in Lang Can commune.
At the same time, the awareness of local residents, businesses and authorities about the importance of tourism development has greatly improved.
State management of tourism has been strengthened, helping attract investors. Promotion work has greatly improved with events bigger in size and diverse in forms, and links and cooperation with partners in tourism development have been expanded.
Tuyen Quang has also tried to build ties with foreign partners through working sessions, conferences and field trips. It has set up ties with partners in Yunnan (China), Xiang Khouang (Laos) and the Republic of Korea./.
