Hanoi (VNA) - The Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on March 14 decided to expel two officials from the Party for their violations and misconduct, following a review of suggestions from the Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission.

The expelled officials are Hoang Van Thang, Vice Secretary of the Party Cell, Chairman of the Vietnam National Committee on Large Dams and Water Resources Development, former member of the Party Civil Affairs Committee, and former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; and Nguyen Thanh Rum, former member of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, former Secretary of the Party Committee, and former Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Both officials were found to have shown degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle; violated Party regulations and State laws, particularly in their assigned duties and in the fight against corruption, wastefulness, and negative phenomena.

They breached regulations on things that Party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example.

Their violations resulted in serious consequences, including substantial financial losses to the State budget and widespread public concern, harming the reputation of the Party organisations, agencies and units they represented.

This disciplinary measure was based on the nature, severity, causes and consequences of their violations./.
