The National University of Singapore (NUS) emerged as top and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) jumped to seventh in Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)’s Asia university rankings in 2014.
The QS rankings for 2014 was released on May 12. The field comprised 300 universities in Asia, which were each assessed on eight indicators.
NUS was ranked first in the employer reputation indicator and second for academic reputation. It was Asia 's best in social sciences & management, second-best in arts & the humanities, engineering & technology and in the life sciences & medicine, and was ranked third for natural sciences.
Meanwhile, NTU was ranked fifth in reputation among employers, and 11th in terms of academic reputation. It also did well in having a diverse international faculty, cosmopolitan student population and for its overseas exchanges.
Among the top five in Asia are universities from the Republic of Korea and Hong Kong. Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology was placed second, while University of Hong Kong and Seoul National University were third and fourth, respectively.-VNA
