Two sailors died and four others, including two Vietnamese and two Koreans, went missing after a fishing vessel of the Republic of Korea (RoK) caught fire at sea early December 30, according to the RoK’s Yonhap News Agency.
Yonhap cited the Minister of Public Safety and Security as saying that the ship Munseong 103, carrying eight Koreans and two Vietnamese, burst into fire at 5:13am (local time), some 5 nautical miles northeast of the disputed islets called Dokdo by the RoK and Takeshima by Japan.
Six crewmen, including the captain, were rescued, but two of them died soon after, according to the agency.
Search is continuing for the four missing.
