Vientiane (VNA) - Lao weather authoritieshave warned that typhoon Goni may hit the country after moving away from thePhilippines.
According to a report from the Department ofMeteorology and Hydrology under the Lao Ministry of Natural Resources andEnvironment, typhoon Goni is expected to reach Vietnam before hitting Laosbetween November 5 and 6.
Due to impacts of the storm, provinces in southern Laos are forecast to recordheavy rains.
Southern Laos was hit by typhoon Molave last week, seeing strong winds andrainfall for many hours, which damaged trees, houses, and the farmland.
Some 51,000ha of farmland have been destroyed by heavyrains and flooding caused by typhoon Molave in 12 districts of the Savannakhetprovince, according to the report.

Storm Goni to batter central region with torrential downpour
Goni, the 10th storm to reach the East Sea this year, is forecast to make landfall in the central region, which was hit by a number of devastating storms and floods in October.
