Phnom Penh (VNA) - Prime Minister Hun Manet has outlined three priority measures implemented by the Royal Government of Cambodia to address the humanitarian and infrastructure impact of the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, the Fresh News reported.

In a special address delivered on January 10 evening, PM Hun Manet stressed a recovery plan centred on facilitating the return of displaced residents, supporting those unable to return, and restoring damaged public infrastructure.

He said that relevant ministries, including the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Interior, and local authorities, are coordinating efforts to enable displaced residents to return home as soon as conditions allow, including measures to actively clear unexploded ordnances to ensure safety before civilians return.

To facilitate the returning process, the Government has established a special task committee to oversee the restoration of livelihoods and damaged infrastructure, he added.

In another development, the Cambodian News Agency (AKP) reported on January 11 that Michael George DeSombre, US Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, reaffirmed Washington’s commitment to urging both Cambodia and Thailand to fully comply with the ceasefire, continue de-escalation efforts, and advance the bilateral border demarcation process toward lasting peace and stability.

At a meeting in Phnom Penh on January 10 with Prak Sokhonn, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, DeSombre welcomed Thailand’s release of 18 Cambodian soldiers, who have now reunited with their families.

Prak Sokhonn emphasised that Cambodia's priorities are to maintain the ceasefire, allow all the displaced civilians to return to their homes, and expedite demarcation work./.

Deputy Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister of Thailand Thammanat Prompao said that the ministry is prioritising a “market-led, innovation-supported, higher income” strategy, built on three key pillars: strengthening confidence in core, established markets to protect Thailand’s market share; targeting high-potential products to open new opportunities, including dried seahorses, dried geckos, live crocodiles for consumption, and breeding crocodile parent stock for farming; and expanding networks by deepening cooperation with key trading partners, including China, and widening sales channels, such as digital platforms, so Thai products can reach consumers more directly.
