U23 Vietnam still in Group D at ASIAD 2018’s football tournament hinh anh 1Redraw result (Source: AFC)

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Vietnam’s U23 team remains in Group D together with Japan, Pakistan, and Nepal after a redraw of the men’s football at the Asian Games (ASIAD) 2018 was organised in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on July 25.

In the previous draw held in Indonesia on July 5, the U23 teams of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Palestine were omitted.

Therefore, only UAE and Palestine have to participate in this more recent draw held at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) headquarters.

As a result, Palestine will compete with Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Laos in Group A, while Palestine enters Group E with Malaysia, the Republic of Korea, Bahrain, and Kyrgyzstan.

The men’s football is to set kick off on August 10 and finish on September 2 in Indonesia.

At the ASIAD 2014 held in Incheon, the Vietnam team, under the guidance of Japanese coach Toshiya Miura, progressed from the qualifying round before losing to the UAE in the quarter-finals.

At this year’s ASIAD, the U23 Vietnam team hopes to earn another triumph after coming in second at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship held in China early this year. –VNA
