US Ambassador to Vietnam David Shear has stated that the recent USvisit by President Truong Tan Sang is a success with a series ofhigh-level exchanges.
Meeting with the media in Hanoi onAugust 8 on President Sang’s visit, Ambassador Shear noted that the twosides have issued a joint statement on the establishment of Vietnam-UScomprehensive partnership, with specific cooperation content for eachfield.
According to the ambassador, in order to realiseagreements reached by the Vietnamese and US leaders, a series ofmeetings will take place from now until the end of this year between thetwo nations’ relevant agencies. They are also due to completenegotiations on the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement.
He saidthe figure of over 25 billion USD in two-way trade turnover in 2012 andan annual growth of 10-15 percent in trade reflect a considerableimprovement in bilateral commercial ties.
The diplomat addedthat on the back of the TPP, Vietnam’s export to TPP membereconomies will receive a boost. The country will also attract moreforeign investment from these economies.-VNA
